ITU World Triathlon San Diego

Yesterday I raced the ITU San Diego Age group race. There is not a lot to report regarding my own personal race but here are the main points.
1. Swim and T1 were a bit limited by the cut I have on my middle finger that is steri-stripped and bandaged. I did a doozy on it when I was breaking down my bike on the chain stay. You have no idea how hard it if to strip a wetsuit without a full functioning middle finger!
2. My bike was going well but regardless, this day was not going to be no where near a PR kind of day for many reasons. So when I wizzed past an athlete on the Fiesta Island Loop that had crashed and was laying in the bushes; I had to turn around and check on him. My thoughts were if that was me, one of my athletes or daughters, I would hope someone who knew how to help would stop. He had several obvious cracked ribs and I too care of business until other help arrived.
3. I felt solid on the run and just appreciated the beautiful Mission Beach scenery and seeing my different athletes on the course.

This was was Team iTz's team race for this year and so I focus on the athletes and coordinating meals, race-prep sessions, and course drives. I only race so I can get a workout in as its very hard me to focus when I am thinking of all my lads and lasses on the course and San Diego proved to be no different. It was a very successful race for Team iTz! Check out the results...

Alex Willis WINS the overall by 4 mins going 1:55. A 3min PR and nabs his Professional Triathletes License

Sierra Smith takes 2nd AG and 10th Overall
Brian Nath takes 5th AG after just returning to running
Caryn Nath lost her nutrition but still had a solid time!
Jeannene worked through some mechanicals and crossed the finish with a smile.

This was such an awesome event to be able to watch both the women's and men's pro races. The ITU events are thrilling and I hope this stop on the WTS circuit will return for a third year! See you at the races! Www.tristafrancis.com
