This is my third season at the KHMTT Series also known as the Cherry Creek Time Trials. I use this series every year to keep training exciting. It's also interesting to put myself in the 'road scene' for a short period. I'm sure as these cyclists see me out there running after I just completely blew my self up 2 minutes before the finish line, they question my sanity. Well, April 22 was a HUGE day for Ms. Trista. The thing that was so interesting about this day is that I didn't want to race. I had almost puked the day before in some interval run training trying to hold paces that just were about :30seconds too fast for me with all the fatigue I had been accumulating over the past couple weeks of training. I was exhausted. I wanted so badly to call my coach and just say... "Do I have to race tomorrow, because I am cooked." I debated and debated and finally just said, "suck it up and let's just see what you got."
When I headed out of the gate, I just had this feeling about 20 seconds into the race... my legs are here! Do it! The winds were calm and I felt on fire... How? I have no idea. I pushed this TT like no other in an attempt for a long awaited PR and low and behold... I did it! By :30secs! 27:51! I never dreamed of this big of a jump...
After arriving home and downloading my power file, I about fell off my chair, so I did it again. I began screaming literally. I had averaged 20 watts higher than I had ever in a the series and reset my ftp by 17 watts.... =)
