It has been an eventful fall, I must say! I am excited to have recently returned from the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. I had such an amazing time and a great race! Clearwater is a beautiful venue and the experience was next to flawless. From the Parade of Flags from Countries represented at the Welcome Dinner to the fireworks that topped off the Awards Banquet on the Beach, it was amazing. I feel lucky that I had the opportunity to experience such an awesome race. I raced very well accomplishing my goals by setting new PR's on the bike and run. The best part was having so much family support at the race! How fun to have my girls cheering me on, running around transition like Roadrunners to catch mom at every opportunity! At the finish, I was overwhelmed with emotion to have crossed the finish line at the World Championships racing with the best in the World. It was surreal. Reflecting back, there were many comments made by my daughters that were just precious, but the one that sticks out most in my mind was the first morning getting ready for the Gatorade Swim Practice, we were at the beautiful beach, with white sand, clear blue water, and athletes lingering here and there. Darbie says to me "I'm having so much fun! Thanks for qualifying Mom!" This was a very memorable moment for me, as I was sure the girls entire focus was set on the Disney World trip that followed the race.
