Nationals Bitter/Sweet!

The Sweet!

I had an amazing race today! I had a solid swim and I Pr'd my bike on this course 5 min!! I went from 19.4 to 20.8mph on the bike and I PR'd my tri 10k!!! I could not believe that considering this is the hardest course I race. Hilly bike and HILLY RUN! I went 47:29(7:38) and negative split it (24:25/23:04)by a long shot with the return having more climbing. All those people that passed me in the first 5k I flew past during the second 5k! It was beautiful how strong I felt! It was almost surreal! I finished with a 2:31:00 which tells me I am sitting at about 2:21:00 on a 'normal' ;-) course. This was also my first International distance race of the season as I DNF'd at BAM as most of you know.

The Bitter...

I placed 35th. The goal was to hit top 16/20....and get to go to Worlds in Goldcoast Austrailia. My coach spectated today and was very pleased with my performance! When she found out how low I placed... her jaw dropped. Well, so did mine, actually.

I am so pleased with my performance... I can't control getting spanked by my competition. What I do know, is I'm strong enough to get here again. For that I am grateful as I feel lucky to race against the top age groupers in the US. Some will never get to experience this. USAT put on a top notch race/event this weekend. I walked away with 2 dry fit Tee's, a transition towel, a race belt, and a finishers jacket. A smooth race from arrival to awards!

So I'll take 35th in the US at this distance, and maybe I'll go give Pacific Coast a shot to get a Worlds slot for Sprint Worlds...they've just added it to the Goldcoast Schedule :-)

The Trip...

I went on my first girls trip with my oldest daughter Daphnie. We had a blast! She was able to converse with the Olympians Jarod Shoemaker, Sara Haskins, and Laura Bennet while I was doing my pre-race training the day before. We also got lucky enough to get a convertible Mustang... as they had run out of cars. We had a blast sporting the ride!!!
