Trigger Point Dry Needling

As I have been getting back up to speed with my hammy, there are still a few kinks that need to be worked out. I have been waiting specifically for the Off Season to take care of them. Today I had my first TPDN session with BF. I didn't really know how it was going to feel and how I would respond. I do know, that when BF felt my hammy and I pointed out what areas were bothersome, he was a bit surprised at how tight they were!! He was more aggressive with me on my first session than he typically is with patients, and this is not the first time I've heard this. I guess when they know you are an athlete and you tell them you think you have a pretty high pain tolerance; they trust you! ;) I am grateful that he was, no need to waste time or money on pussy footin around.

I believe he needled about 10-12 areas on my hammy. I had some sweaty palms but hung tough. A few bled, but that is not typical. Post treatment, the area that has been the biggest issue, the lateral distal side, is quite achy! WOW! Some people can experience a day of down time. We don't know how I will respond, but will know very soon. They way it feels, I would anticipate some bruising, but I will keep you posted. Enjoy your training =)
