This year I am doing something I haven't ever done before. Race, race, race in my off season. I'll be honest, it's been kind of fun! I am dropping into as many running races as I can trying to boost my hammy healing or should I say, expedite getting my speeeeeeed back! I have suprised myself with a couple performances. My first 5k was at the Turkey Trot where I held a 7:57 on a relatively hilly course. YAY! I broke the 8 minute mark! =) Now only 1 minute to go...
Next I ran the Rock Canyon Half Marathon on Dec 6. This again, is not a fast course with a lot of dirt, but went 2:01 averaging a 9:12 pace. Considering I have only 2 long runs under my belt... this again is a good performance for me. It is, however, at least 1 minute off pace.
Lastly, I ran Rudolphs Revenge 10k. I knew I would break an hour, but I didn't know by how much. Well, ran a 51:28... an 8:13 pace. I was happy that for the first 30 minutes I averaged an 8:06 pace. Honestly, I was indifferent about this result, probaby because I had no expectations, but Melissa was VERY HAPPY with it... so I guess I am too. Still about a minute off pace. Suprise! ;-) Enjoy your training =)
